Thanks Sneaky Pete Kleinow

Legendary steel guitarist and stop-motion animator Pete Kleinow passed away on Monday. In addition to being one of the founding members of the Flying Burrito Brothers, Pete did work on Gumby, composing the theme song as well as a number of other films including Star Wars. (via)

There Ain't No Freakin French Fries

This is one of my favorite claymation shorts. It shows a guy pulling up to Jack In The Box drive through with a voice that sounds like Jack Nicholson taking the order. The first time I saw this my cheeks hurt. On a related note, here are some interesting quotes from the god of stop-motion animation himself, Tim Burton.

Desayuno Jan Svankmajer

This is the strangest stop-motion I've seen. It features 3 men, one of which is a human vending machines that serves up hot dogs when you stick quarters down his throat. Don't ask any questions, just watch. The weirdness will draw you in....

The SoftLightes "Heart Made Of Sound" Dir. Kris Moyes

This is a very beautiful stop-motion music video. The colors and letters are amazing in this video. The production quality is top notch. A must watch for any stopmo fan! (via)

Napoleon Bonamite (Robot Chicken)

Napoleon Bonamite sketch from Adult Swim's Robot Chicken

Robot Chicken

Robot Chicken is a hysterical variety show that is done completely using stop-motion animation. Robot Chicken is created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and features tons of celebrity voice appearances. The show recreates entire show sets and parody's all sorts of different things, nothing is off limits. Robot Chicken could be described as Saturday Night Live of stop-motion. In this episode Super Mario Cart, Knight Rider, Dukes Of Hazard, Speed Racer, CHIPS, Batman, That 70s Show and other shows that I'm leaving out are all mashed together into a hilarious film. Seriously, I haven't laughed so hard in a while!

White Stripes Fell In Love With A Girl

Legos are a very popular prop for amateur stop-motion videographers. Perhaps the most well done lego stop-motion video is the White Stripes video for Fell In Love With A Girl which is a killer video for a killer song!

Vintage Alka Seltzer Stop Motion

In what is beginning to become a vintage animation series, I give you this Alka Seltzer commercial which must be from the 60s. The commercial features a clay character named fizzy sitting at the bedside sing "Plop plop fizz fizz oh what a relief it is!"

Laughing Levis Stop-Motion From Early 70s

Another great vintage stop-motion via boingboing. Seeing these old videos makes me really appreciate the timeless aspect of the art of the stop motion video.

Neighbours - Vintage 1952 Stop-Motion Film

Here's a great stop motion thats over 50 years old. I can only imagine how tedious it was to create using the primitive filming technology. I found this via boingboing and the reader that submitted thought that this was the inspiration for the popular Tony vs Paul video. He's probably right about that.

Here is the info from Google video:

"One of the many short films put out by the National Film Board of Canada. This one was headed by Norman McLaren, in 1952. Watch, and observe the era when creativity and originality was still to be found in relative abundance."
